Course Goal: This 20-hour course (14 hours of discipline & 6 hours of Basic Instructor Training BIT) teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Rifle Shooting course.
Description: This course is presented in two parts: Basic Instructor Training, and discipline specific instructor training. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and complete an instructor certification examination. Students will receive the NRA Trainer’s Guide, NRA Rifle Shooting Instructor Candidate Packet and NRA Basic Rifle Shooting course student packet.
Prerequisite: Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a prerequisite for certification as an NRA instructor. Prior to the instructor training, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises.
If you have taken the Basic Instructor Training (BIT) within the last 2 calendar years, you do not have to sit for the BIT portion, although it is highly recommended to continuously develop your skills as an instructor.
* By attending this Instructor level course, you will be afforded the opportunity to successfully complete all required objectives and satisfactorily prove to the Training Counselor that you possess the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to be considered for recommendation to become certified as a NRA Certified Instructor in this discipline.
Please remember this is a performance based course. You do not pay and automatically pass the Instructor training. You pay to have the opportunity to pass.

Course Goal: This 17-hour course (11 hours of discipline & 6 hours of Basic Instructor Training BIT) teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Shotgun Shooting Course.

Please Note: The classroom component will be taking place at RISE from 8am-3pm. The marksmanship qualification component will be taking place at our partner venue, Thunder Mountain. (1 Mansion Rd. Ringwood, NJ 07456) from 4pm-6pm.
