Hi, guys. Thanks again for checking in at the RISE Blog for the latest news and updates. Today we hear from our very first member to purchase one of our annual membership packages! Let me introduce Daniel Hughes, the brother of one of RISE’s finest personnel, Joseph Hughes. Thank you for joining us today, Daniel, and thank you for participating in our very first Spotlight Series!

Tell us a little about yourself.

“My name is Daniel Hughes. I am 20 years old from Congers, NY. Right now, the nature of my work is to help released felons be integrated as productive members of our society. The guys I help have served their time and approach me with a positive attitude in re-entering a normal life. After interviewing and vetting these men, I start by helping them find jobs and oversee their adjustment. The firm I work in is based out of New York City… I am also attending college at John Jay. After graduation, I’m hoping to become a police officer.”

How did you get started in the shooting sports?

“I have to give this credit to my dad. He got me started when I was around 7. Then life got in the way and I didn’t get back at it again until I was 13. Back then, I went to the old Firing Line. Getting back into the sport, I quickly picked up where I left off and fell in love with it all over again.”

Do you have a favorite firearm?

“Absolutely, I’m glad you asked. The favorite in my collection is my Lee-Enfield Mk III from 1913. You can’t put a price on a piece of history. As for a favorite I hope to acquire one day, well… there’s just so many. I’ll get back to you in a few years when my tastes and finances are set.”

How does the RISE facility accommodate your shooting needs? Why did you choose us over other ranges?

“Now that RISE is the newly opened, hottest range in the area, I plan to come here more often and work on my marksmanship. I’m from Congers, so coming here to Pearl River is only a short 10-minute drive from where I live. Before, I had to go all the way to Westchester, and shooting out there lacked the excitement and family dynamics I feel here at RISE. And now that this is my new go-to place, I plan to get in more range time and improve my precision with every training session I log in here.”

That’s the way to do it, Daniel! We look forward to your continued presence and welcome you as the newest member of the RISE Family!
