Course Goal: This 14-hour course (8 hours of discipline & 6 hours of Basic Instructor Training BIT) teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to training and supervising NRA Range Safety Officers and developing range standard operating procedures.
Description: This course is presented in two parts: Basic Instructor Training and NRA Chief Range Safety Officer training. Sessions include standard operating procedures, inspections, emergency procedures, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, safety briefings. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises and complete an open book exam. Students will receive NRA Basic Range Safety Officer lesson plans, basic student packet and basic course presentation CD.
Prerequisite: Must be an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer & have taken the Basic Instructor Training (BIT).
If you have taken the Basic Instructor Training (BIT) within the last 2 calendar years, you do not have to sit for the BIT portion, although it is highly recommended to continuously develop your skills as an instructor.
* By attending this Instructor level course, you will be afforded the opportunity to successfully complete all required objectives and satisfactorily prove to the Training Counselor that you possess the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to be considered for recommendation to become certified as a NRA Certified Instructor in this discipline.
Please remember this is a performance based course. You do not pay and automatically pass the Instructor training. You pay to have the opportunity to pass.
